Tanglebots Workshop

Tanglebots is a workshop for children with autism and their families. We will combine harvesting components from e-waste toys (motors, gears, electronics), and using visual programming (Scratch) to control these components, to create robots that make tangles. Tanglebots are prototype weaving machines. The weaving focus allows us to ground the workshop in loom technology and demonstrate the challenges of manipulating thread, with its enormous history of technological development. Each family is provided with the training and materials required to create their own.

This event is part of British Science Week, and is run in collaboration with the Cultural Minds research group. It is funded by an ESRC Impact Cultivation Award and is free for participants. Email kernow(at)fo.am for more information.
